Betty Steele

Betty Steele was born on April 13, 1933 and peacefully passed away on January 21, 2026 in Goodyear, Arizona. She was blessed to be adopted in 1944 at age 11 by Fordyce and Florine Bragg, who gave her a wonderful life. 

Betty married Duane Steele in 1952, and they enjoyed nearly 70 years together. 

Betty is survived by two children, Sylvia (Arthur Lewis) and Michael, four grandchildren, Eric, Lisa, Alan, and Jennifer, and five great grandchildren, Grant, Sydney, Ryn, Konner, and Mason. She was preceded in death by her son, William, and a brother.

Betty was a very active parent when her kids were growing up, attending the many, many events they participated in and was a member of the local theater group along with Duane in Tecumseh, Michigan. In later years, she was a vocal supporter of many Michigan sports teams; she especially loved her Tigers. Betty also enjoyed karaoke with Duane and the locals of Bokeelia, Florida at Capt’n Cons. She was known for her quick wit, sharp knowledge of family memories, and unlimited old fashioned cliches. 

Betty was most loved and will be greatly missed.

In lieu of a memorial service, Betty’s ashes will join Duane’s ashes in Charlotte Harbor at a private family ceremony.
