Brad Robert Bigelow Sr., 59, passed away at home in Buckeye, Arizona, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, adventures, laughter, and a family he loved deeply.

Brad was an outdoorsman through and through. He loved hunting, fishing, horses, and spending time outside. Over the years, his adventures took him from hunting deer and elk to catching 60-pound catfish at Bartlett Lake. He loved horses, even getting to ride in the Pony Express years ago on his favorite horse, Midnight. He also had a special place in his heart for Rottweilers, a breed he cherished and loved.

Brad carried a youthful spirit with him throughout his life. No matter his age, he never lost the excitement he found in the things he loved. Whether it was his tricycle, his quad, or a new gun or scope he just got, he could light up with the same genuine enthusiasm he had as a young man. He loved to joke, laugh, and have fun, and his playful sense of humor was a big part of who he was. Behind that fun-loving personality was an incredibly soft warm caring heart, especially when it came to his family.

Brad was a hardworking businessman, inventor, and craftsman who took great pride in the things he built. He owned and operated a door business that he eventually handed down to his eldest son, Brad Bigelow Jr. He had a natural ability to look at something and find a way to build it, improve it, or make it work better. He enjoyed inventing things to help with fabrication and bringing his ideas to life with his own hands. Among his proudest creations were his custom knives, each carefully made with love, precision, and the intention of lasting a lifetime.

Of all the things Brad enjoyed and accomplished, nothing meant more to him than his children and grandchildren. Some of his happiest moments were spent sharing his love of the outdoors with them. He loved taking his grandchildren fishing and helping them catch anything from channel cats to little turtles. It didn’t matter what they caught; seeing the excitement on their faces and watching them enjoy life was what mattered most to him. He enjoyed time spent at camp, hunting with his children and family and passing his knowledge to the next generation.

Brad leaves behind his five children, Brad Bigelow Jr., Cody Bigelow, Heather Plott, John Bigelow, and Josey Bigelow, and his beloved grandchildren, Brantley, Emerie, Beaudi, Knox, Louella, Lilenne, Austin, Rylee, Jake, Layna Lee, Freya, Rhea, and Gaia. He is also survived by his father, John Glendon Bigelow, and his brothers, John and Lance, along with many other family members and friends who knew and loved him.

Brad packed a lot of living into his 59 years. He worked hard, loved a good adventure, built things with his hands, enjoyed his toys, told his jokes, and laughed often. Most importantly, he loved his family deeply.

He leaves behind the things he built, the lessons he taught, countless stories to be retold, and memories his family will carry with them for the rest of their lives. His greatest legacy will always be the children and grandchildren he loved so much.

He may have left us, but he gained his wings to carry him home.
