Richard “Butch” Warren Neumann Sr., 81, of Litchfield Park, Arizona, passed away on September 21, 2026, following a battle with cancer. He was in hospice care through Hospice of the Valley in Surprise. Born October 1, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan, Richard was a born-again Christian whose faith remained an important part of his life.
Richard was a proud Quarter Master in U.S. Navy . After his military service, he pursued his passion for working with his hands, attending an electrician trade school and Somis College. He earned additional certifications related to the Palo Verde Nuclear Plant and spent 30 years with Chrysler as a troubleshooting electrician. His career reflected the determination, technical ability, and practical nature that defined him.
Away from work, Richard had a wide range of interests and a playful sense of adventure. He enjoyed golf, flying planes, playing cards—with a reputation for cheating now and then—, he especially enjoyed the fun and mystery surrounding Sasquatch hunting. He loved the color blue, steak and potatoes, and hymns.
Richard shared 30 years of marriage with his first wife, Claunita Neumann, in Detroit. He later married Debby Bersano-Neumann, and they spent 28 years together in Surprise, Arizona. Debby survives him, along with his son Richard Neumann, Jr. and Step daughter Christina Marie Natale' Miller-Demianeko. A host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by Claunita Neumann, his son Paul Neumann, his daughter Julie Neumann and his 4 brothers and 4 sisters, as well as his parents and grandparents.
Those who knew Richard will remembered a man of faith, strong character, humor, and unmistakable personality. He found joy in his family, his interests, his work, and the many stories created along the way. His memory will live on in the people who loved him and in the laughter and adventures they shared.
May Richard be remembered with gratitude for the life he lived, the faith he carried, and the family and friends who were blessed to know him.
